LexiCam is an independent mobile application that uses your device's camera to detect text in the real world and provide word definitions and translations powered by third-party artificial intelligence services.
LexiCam is developed and operated by an individual developer, not a corporation. By using this application, you acknowledge this context and accept the limitations described herein.
2 AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
All word definitions, translations, and related content displayed in LexiCam are generated automatically by artificial intelligence (third-party AI APIs).
LexiCam does not verify, review, curate, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of any AI-generated content.
- Definitions and translations may be incorrect, incomplete, misleading, or inappropriate.
- You should not rely on LexiCam's content for medical, legal, financial, or any other professional purposes.
- The developer of LexiCam is not responsible for any harm, loss, or damage arising from the use of AI-generated definitions or translations.
- You use this content entirely at your own risk.
3 Service Availability & Interruptions
LexiCam depends on third-party AI services and APIs to function. The developer makes no guarantee of continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free service.
- The developer reserves the right to suspend, modify, or permanently discontinue access to definitions and translations at any time, with or without notice.
- Third-party API availability is outside the developer's control. Service interruptions, degraded performance, or complete unavailability may occur without warning.
- The developer is not liable for any inconvenience, loss of access, or damages resulting from service interruptions.
4 Pricing & Subscriptions
LexiCam offers a paid subscription ("LexiCam Explorer") that unlocks additional features. By subscribing, you acknowledge and agree to the following:
- Subscription prices are subject to change at any time. The developer cannot guarantee that current pricing will remain fixed.
- The costs associated with AI API usage fluctuate and may impact the developer's ability to maintain current pricing tiers.
- In the event of significant cost increases or business changes, the developer reserves the right to adjust, suspend, or discontinue subscription plans without prior notice.
- No refunds will be issued for any subscription period, partial or full, in the event the service is modified, suspended, or discontinued, except where required by applicable law.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. You are responsible for managing your subscriptions through your Apple App Store account settings.
The developer expressly disclaims any obligation to maintain a specific price point or level of service for the duration of any subscription period.
5 Data Collection & Privacy
LexiCam collects minimal data necessary for the app to function:
- Camera access: Used solely to detect text in your environment in real time. Camera feed is not stored or transmitted.
- Word lookups: Words you scan may be sent to third-party AI APIs to retrieve definitions. Results are cached in a shared iCloud server (CloudKit public database) to enable faster responses for all users. By using LexiCam, you consent to your word lookups being stored anonymously in this shared cache. No personally identifiable information is attached to cached entries.
- Saved words: Stored locally on your device and/or in your personal iCloud account via CloudKit. The developer does not have access to your personal word lists.
- Usage data: Anonymous usage statistics may be collected to improve the app experience. No personally identifiable information is collected.
6 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- LexiCam is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
- The developer is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of or inability to use the app.
- The developer is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or legality of any AI-generated text displayed within the app.
- Maximum liability of the developer to any user shall not exceed the amount paid by that user in the three (3) months preceding the claim.
7 Changes to This Policy
The developer reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy and Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the application after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms. It is your responsibility to review this policy periodically.
